Wooden Sandpit Playhouse

Style and Design
A delightful, quality wooden sandpit with its own roof, this wooden sandpit playhouse has plenty of room to allow small children to play together.  The side ledges are ideal for sitting on to play while the roof provides shade on a hot sunny day.  A super little garden feature to encourage youngsters in constructive outdoor play.
The sandpit is constructed in solid pinewood throughout.
The overall dimensions are 4'3'' x 3'11'' (1.28 x 1.20m).  The height at the apex of the covering roof is 4'11'' (145cm) while the sandpit itself measures 3'11'' x 3'7'' x  11'' (120 x 110 x 28cm).
The timber is impregnated with preservative to provide long term protection from rot and insects.
The playhouse is delivered ready for DIY home assembly by the purchaser.

Our Verdict
Well, this one might be pushing a little at the boundaries of the description of a playhouse but we thought it was worth mentioning as it has so much more character than the little plastic sandpits you can pick up for a few pounds and which litter so many gardens.

It will take a little while to put together but as long as you take your time you should end up with a robust little feature which children will enjoy.  Solid pine is used throughout the construction and for good measure it's impregnated with green timber preservative as part of the manufacturing process.  This will ensure long term protection against both rot and insect attack.  That doesn't stop you decorating the structure to your own specification though.  Indeed, we'd recommend this.  Even impregnated timber will take on a worn and weathered look when exposed to the elements and the application of a suitable decorative finish can help keep your sandpit looking bright and new.

Although there are other wooden sandpits around we don't think you'll find one quite as appealing as this one when it comes to style and looks.  The only comment we'd make is that although it's covered by the roof above, the sandpit element itself doesn't come with a lid.  We don't think this is any great disadvantage though.  In our view lids are of limited value in an outdoor sandpits - indeed, we think they can encourage creepy crawlies to shelter inside which can lead to some nasty surprises.  We see this outdoor sandpit playhouse as an ideal garden feature on its own or to complement a child's wooden playhouse.  Available customer feedback rates it highly - and so do we - we've awarded it five stars.
