Our Verdict
A simple, open design, the Outsunny certainly provides plenty of interest for youngsters with its range of features which encourage healthy, educational outdoor play. There are large shop style windows on three sides with attractive white framed windows to the front. There's also a hinged half height door, a decorative picket fence, an outdoor bench to the side, a post box - and everything's rounded of in a nice brown finish with white trim. The manufacturer has produced a video which gives a great idea of what it's all about. You can see it here (opens in a new window).
We don't see any great issues with assembly - the playhouse is supplied with a manual to keep you on the right track when putting it together - and safety is catered for too with ample finger gaps around the door. The trimmings are finished with a water resistant paint finish and we think this makes for a pleasing appearance. Be aware that to preserve the appearance of the playhouse you will have to treat any bare areas with a decorative/preservative finish and that the decor will require maintenance from time to time over the lifetime of the building. The overall build quality looks good though.
All in all, we see this as a good example of a wooden playhouse of its type. The open finish may not be to everyone's taste but it does give you a pretty, well ventilated structure which allows you to see exactly what's going on inside. It should dry out quickly too following a shower of rain and the close boarded roof will allow some shelter and shade from rain and sun alike. There are a good number of features for the price and these should help to maintain plenty interest. As well as promoting constructive play, pots can be kept in the window boxes, providing an interesting introduction to the world of gardening. At the time of review, the Outsunny was competitively priced and we felt it compared well with comparable models like the Cafe Shop and Bramble Cottage. - though pricing for the Cafe Shop tended to be keener. Where we found reviews, customer satisfaction was looking good too - all of which suggests that you wouldn't be going far wrong with the Outsunny Kids' Wooden Outdoor Playhouse. We've given it 4.5 wooden playhouse stars - a good buy!
