The Tower version of the popular Tulip Wooden Playhouse. You can find all you need to know about the playhouse itself on our Tulip Wooden Playhouse page. Here, this good sized playhouse is mounted on a sturdy one metre high wooden tower with a safety balustrade for smaller children and wooden ladder access. The tower is available with or without a wavy slide and a swing - either or both of which will keep children amused for hours.
The structure is manufactured in FSC approved timber. The building itself is finished in 12mm shiplap timber cladding on a robust timber frame while the roof and floor are respectively 8mm and 10mm solid sheet OSB. The roof is covered in roofing felt to ensure a weatherproof finish and the windows glazed in styrene for safety. The tower supports are of 75 x 75mm timber with the framing 75 x 44mm.
The tower can be purchased with a resin slide and solid wooden framed single swing.
The playhouse measures 4'11'' x 4'11'' ( 1.5 x 1.5m) and is mounted on a 3'3'' (1.0m) high platform. The overall height of the structure is 8'7'' (2.62m). The footprint varies according to whether the slide and swing are included. You can see the approximate measurements above.
The building is dip treated prior to delivery. A final decorative/protective finish should be applied at the time of construction and on a regular basis thereafter to ensure a long life for the structure.
The options available for the Tulip Tower vary from supplier to supplier but you should find and installation service and perhaps a choice of DIY finishes.
The playhouse is delivered in flat pack form with instructions ready for assembly by the purchaser. It is recommended that assembly is carried out by two people and can be achieved in a guide time of 3.5 hours excluding decoration.

The Tulip is a reasonably sized wooden playhouse and you have a good choice of options with the tower version. Whether you choose the slide or swing will depend on budget and available space but experience shows that the more you buy the more fun there is to be had. Build quality is good and the specification of the platform and swing supports should be more than adequate for their intended purpose. If you have a small child the safety balustrade is reassuring given the height of the tower.
You will need to apply a preservative finish at the time of assembly so don't take much stock with the guide assembly time of 3.5 hours. We'd recommend applying the finish to your preference prior to assembly and then assembling the pre-finished pieces. In our experience this is easier than trying to decorate once the building has been put together. It means you'll have to allow a day for decoration before putting the playhouse together. We have found it's also easier to keep small children away from wet paint on an unassembled building!
